Just Breathe- #FiveMinuteFriday

Five Minute Friday/ Thoughts about catching our breath in His Presence...

A week filled with triggers and failures and waiting can make anyone want to lose their cool and enter into the no-man’s land of mood disorders, and if one more person asked me to calm down and just breathe, well, I just couldn’t account for the consequences.

There was chaos. Worries. Exhaustion. Tippy lids and wayward spatulas and myriad decisions without answers, last-minute prayers that felt like whining defeat instead of hopeful expectation.

And when one looks back it’s been months, not weeks.

It’s enough to make one crumple in a heap and hope the ground swallows you up for good.

But then I place myself wearily and hungrily in His presence.

Why did I wait so long?

And the welcome, soothing, and resurrection-filled breath of the Father flows in, fills up these depleted lungs and life, and the impossible-miraculous-wholeness takes over.

I see it in my mind’s eye, like a limp forgotten balloon being filled up and instantly ready to fly.

I take another delicious breathe in His shadow of mercy and grace and have to thank and praise Him.

How does that beautiful lyric go?

Ah yes.

“It’s Your breath. In my lungs.”

And I hear Him respond to this wobbly daughters-heart:

“Just breathe, beloved. Just breathe.”

This is my very first attempt at joining in on all the goodness of the Five Minute Friday Community!

Aliyah, loving connecting with so many women of words and The Word! Thanks! Good to meet you as well. I will have to come visit at your blog… so many good posts to take in, it’s fabulous. Praying others are encouraged to know that the small battles matter to Him just as much as the big ones, breathing in His victory today!

  3. So glad you joined us for FMF! I’ve been taking part for about 18 months now and it’s a wonderful community. Sorry things have been tough lately. Praying you know God’s presence with you and you are able to breathe in his peace.

Lesley, hey girl! How cool is that? We keep crossing paths, love it! I’m beginning to see how welcoming this group is, it’s fantastic!
I’ll take all the prayers I can, I’m finding complete rest and wholeness in Him, he’s my Life Preserver and has never let me down. Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend, m’dear! Let’s stay in touch!

  4. So we pour out our praise to Him!
You picked a great week to join us!
    Stooping by from FMF #63

  5. Christine, so nice to have you join us at #FiveMinuteFriday! I wonder why we do wait so long sometimes to place ourselves “wearily and hungrily in His presence.” We always can find refreshment there, and He gives us peace and calm.

Blessings to you! Have a great weekend!

Gayl! I’m so pleased to find you in the #fmf gang! How are you, sweet friend? I am heading over to read your words today, they always lift and inspire just as I need it. Why DO we wait before running to Him to be our refuge and strong tower? I’m learning to go to Him first! 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend! xxoo

  6. Good for you for taking that first FMF step, Christine. I’ve never done it either … maybe some day soon? 🙂 That beautiful lyric is one of my favorite songs right now … I want to a concert last fall where Big Daddy Weave, Plumb and We Are Messenger all sang it together–it was powerful! (Of course, it’s also powerful when I hear it on the radio while I’m driving in my minivan!)

  7. Christine that was awesome! Reminds me of our conversation with Michelle Bengtson in the round room 🙂 Amazing what you can accomplish in 5 minutes when talented like you!
    Love ya,
    ~Sherry Stahl
